Types of polycarbonate

Polycarbonate roofing structures have a cellular construction resembling a honeycomb structure. The classic transparent polycarbonate (1) allows approximately 70% of light to pass through, but it may heat up more depending on the installation location. Due to the transparency of the structure, dirt and water vapor condensation may be more visible. Its milky (opal) version (2) provides better protection against sunlight and heating, with light and energy permeability at around 50%. Among the available options, polycarbonate in IQ Relax technology (3) provides the strongest protection against heating, ensuring high thermal insulation without significant loss of natural light. Although IQ Relax panels allow the least amount of light to pass through among the available options, they reflect the most solar energy while still transmitting almost half of the natural light. This feature ensures a comfortable temperature without heavily shading the terrace, which is significant both in the summer season when coolness is desired and in the fall and winter months when high thermal insulation helps maintain the temperature of the enclosed terrace. All polycarbonate panels have a noise reduction coefficient of 21 dB.

Depending on the usage of the covered space and the level of sunlight at the installation location, the choice of polycarbonate for roofing is not solely based on sunlight permeability. A popular option, for instance, is to use clear polycarbonate and additionally equip the structure with electric horizontal sun blinds. These blinds can be deployed at any time, even only on a portion of the covered area, providing flexibility in managing sunlight exposure.


Gumax – Classic Style or Modern Style

Classic supports feature rounded corners and a wavy gutter, while modern ones have straight corners and a rounded gutter.

The design of modern supports is the optimal solution for installing additional side or front covers. This is due to the rounded shape of the classic posts and their width.

Sunshade Roller Blind under the Roof

A fabric sunshade roller blind is a system particularly recommended for enclosed winter and summer gardens. The special translucent fabric reflects approximately 89% of direct heat radiation, and the intuitive wireless remote control allows for simultaneous control of all blinds or individual adjustment of each blind panel. Installing the fabric shade under polycarbonate panels protects it from dirt caused by weather conditions.

The blinds can be mounted to the Gumax model (regardless of the type of polycarbonate used) as well as other terrace structures. The minimum height of the cassette with electric drive is 88mm, and the distance between brackets is approximately 936-950mm.


Sliding Glass Door System

Sliding glass doors are an ideal solution when you want to protect the terrace from gusts of wind and ensure thermal comfort inside without opting for permanent solutions. Sliding panels with safety glass are available in systems with one, two, or even six rails and can be installed both in the front and on the sides of the roofing. For the integration into the side of the Gumax and Gumax Glas models, a prior installation of the “8° wedge made of tempered glass” is required, onto which the aluminum frame for the upper guide is mounted.

It is important to note that when using a single rail, the glass panels will not overlap. The width of the glass sliding system is measured from support to support or from support to the wall. Each glass panel always has a width of 980mm. Depending on the area you want to cover, any excess space can be filled with an additional pillar or a longer rail system can be installed, causing the glass panels to overlap more.

The space between the glass panels is sealed with a so-called “weather strip,” and special profiles in the shape of the letter “U” allow for an aesthetic connection between the door system and the roofing support.

Side enclosure fillings

• Filling with polycarbonate

The side panel, with a height of 98cm, is made of 16mm multiwall polycarbonate in one of three shades (clear, milky, iq relax). It does not have an aluminum frame, so it is not possible to install other side covers on it. This is an ideal solution for covering the triangular opening above the fence.

• 8° Wedge made of tempered glass

The use of the wedge levels the unevenness of the structure and comes with aluminum frames to which other side covers, such as sliding glass or fabric reflectors, can be attached. The tempered glass is delivered with an attached matte transport film, which can be removed before installation to make the glass transparent.

• Polycarbonate Wall

The side, sturdy wall made of 16mm multiwall polycarbonate is tailored to the shape of the roofing structure, allowing for a permanent enclosure of its side in one of three shades (clear, milky, iq relax).
